One day from geologist's life at the Abraham Lake area, Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Canada

This post is a perfect example of a day of field work, which could be used to advertise work as a sedimentologist and stratigrapher in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. The scenery and geology in this area are just unbelievably beautiful, especially when you can see them from a helicopter. The pictures were taken in August 2012. That day we studied sedimentary rocks and collected fossils from the Late Cretaceous (Coniacian) Muskiki-Marshybank Members. Our rocks were exposed on the banks of the Big Horn River, about 30 minutes north flying from the Abraham Lake area.
If you are interested to see the scenery of the Abraham Lake area or glaciated mountains of the Columbia Icefield from a helicopter, this is the place to start. You can use the same helicopter company as we used, they are very good and flexible. They are located on the shore of the lake, just by Highway 11. The company name is the Icefield Helicopter Tours. Prices are high, as all helicopter flights in general, however, the views and scenery can make it worth consideration!
